Nature Coast Tilapia was founded in 2017. It all started with a love of aquaponics . Aquaponics is a farming method that goes back centuries. Aquaponics refers to any system
that combines conventional aquaculture (raising aquatic animals such as fish, crayfish, and prawn) with hydroponics (cultivating plants in water) in a symbiotic environment. In an aquaponic system water from an aquaculture system is fed to hydroponic system where the fish waste is used as a natural fertilizer for the vegetables and fruits being grown. The water is then recirculated back to the aquaculture system.
In todays world many people are reconsidering where their food is sourced, primarily because of the advent of gmo food. There are many correlations between gmo food and the rise of many illnesses such as cancer. People have become concerned with the amount of fertilizer and pesticides that are being used by many commercial farms today. Because of this there has been a huge rise in the number of people farming their own food. Aquaponics is a great way to provide your family with clean sustainable protein and vegetables .
