What is Aquaponics?

Aquaponics is a farming system that combines aquaculture and hydroponics. Fish waste from ponds is circulated through grow beds to feed and fertilize fruits and vegetables. This system of growing uses a third of the water as conventional farming. Aquaponics does not require any pesticides or artificial nutrients, also there is no need for antibiotics.

Why Tilapia?

Tilapia are the preferred fish for aquaponic systems. Tilapia produce the level of waste required for healthy grow beds. Tilapia are known to be a sturdy adaptable fish. Aquaponic farms will lead the way into the next generation of farming where organic fruits and vegetables are raised alongside a fish that is an excellent non gmo source of protein. Aquaponics paves the way in what will be known as the urban farm market.
