White Nile Tilapia , Oreochromis Niloticus , is a large cichlid fish. White Nile Tilapia can tolerate brackish water and live for 10 years. They grow to 16” in length and can weigh in over 9 pounds. They do best in water between 65 and 100 degrees. They can tolerate cold spikes down to 47 degrees. These fish are great for aquaponics and are a delicious source of protein that is highly sought after by fish markets. They are also a great defense against unwanted aquatic plants.
